Having been something of a perpetual student, I know the challenges that students face in completing their program requirements.  Many of these needs fall outside the realm of traditional therapy, such as needing to conduct an informational interview, conduct research, do a statistical analysis, or complete a dissertation.  I enjoy being able to share some of my lessons learned along the way and the expertise I gained going through all of my academic programs to help others making the same journey.

Students

Being a student comes with a lot of expectations to live up to.  Many times you may feel that you are being asked to do things that you are not yet prepared or trained to do.  Within the limits of what your program will allow, I am happy to provide assistance.

Informational Interview: Many mental health programs, whether master's or doctoral, often have a requirement in one or more classes to interview a licensed practicing professional.  However, if you are just entering the field, you may not know any or feel comfortable approaching a boss or director at your job.  If you have this type of assignment, I am happy to volunteer up to an hour of time to meet with you and answer any questions you have about my experience.  The interview can be done in my office, over the phone, or at a mutually agreeable location, such as your school, a Starbucks, the library, etc.

Research: Many undergrad and graduate programs involve a research class that often has a final project involving proposing or conducting research.  While the course instructor or your advisor may be able to provide guidance, they may not have the time to provide individualized attention.  I offer research consulting for all types of projects, including course assignments, independent studies, and dissertations.  This can involve brainstorming possible topics for research, thinking through the practicalities of implementing a research project, deciding on statistical analyses, and proofreading the written report.

Statistics: For many students, statistics is the most dreaded class in the entire program.  There can be quite a fear of mathematical calculations, especially such complex ones involved in statistics, and figuring out what the results mean.  I happen to enjoy statistics and hope to share my enthusiasm and understanding.  If you are doing a study and need assistance with figuring out what statistics to run, actually running the tests, or interpreting and writing up the results, I am happy to help.

Dissertation Coaching: Taking on a dissertation is quite a daunting task.  Depending on your advisor, you may find yourself feeling adrift and unsure of how to proceed.  As a dissertation coach, I am your partner through the entire process, providing guidance and encouragement to stick with the process even when it seems overwhelming.  I can help with identifying topics and narrowing them down, drafting the proposal following your school's guidelines, IRB applications, statistical analysis, proofreading, and preparing for the oral defense.

Fees

Prices for these services will depend on what you need.  I am happy to provide a free one hour consultation in person or over the phone to discuss your needs, determine what I can do to help, and discuss fees.  Payment can be made up front, in installments, or upon completion of particular milestones.
